Information for Hikers

Enjoy a hike up Sulphur Mountain by climbing this moderate 5.3 km switchback trail. Once you reach the summit you can sit back and enjoy the amenities offered at the Banff Gondola Upper Terminal. Should you wish to take a gondola ride down, there is a one-way fare available. Tickets can be purchased at the Upper Ticket Terminal Window. 

Boardwalk to Sansons Peak

After a breathtaking ride up the gondola, add even more excitement to your mountain experience by taking the 1 km boardwalk up to Sanson's Peak, a historical weather observatory.  While walking along this boardwalk and up 367 stairs enjoy the beautiful scenery on this self-guided interpretive walk.

Interpretive Display/compass

Do you know how far away from home you are? By using our interactive compass display you will find the direction and distance to your home and other cities around the world. At the top of Sulphur Mountain, you can also learn about Canada's National parks, and the Cosmic Ray Station National Historic Site.
